Every time I was listening to his song, I couldn't stop questioning
myself that, 'Should I be here (on the battle-field) myself?'.

On my numerous Report Tapes,
I have so many children who I had met on my War-report fields,
the faces and figures of those Children who tried to Live, so much wounded themselves, but without any complaints about their own situations there.

Sure, they (those Children) show myself, of their own Way of living in the
conflicts regions.
(I feel) So Sad, for each of their living.
Could I really (truely) question such a Truth (those Children and their
Way of living) to our world?
No. Not at all.
I still, could never show (report) the Truth on the world yet.

マイケル・ジャクソンのメッセージ・ソング。この曲を耳にするたび、「自分は今ここに居て良いのだろうか？」と自問する。膨大な取材テープの中には、これまで取材現場で出会ってきた子どもたちの痛々しくも文句ひとつ言わずその場でありのままに生きる子どもたちの姿が収められている。彼らの表情を、姿を思い出す。私の前に自分の生き様を見せてくれた。どれも悲しい。私はそれらを世に問うことができているだろうか？いや、到底できていないのだ。
